Situation of fruit and vegetables sector in Morocco in current season.

Sector of fruit and vegetables occupies total surface almost 700.000 hectares of which 460.000 hectares are fruit orchards ( not including olive trees) and 240.000 fields of vegetables cultivation. The whole average country's production reaches 7 million tons of which 3 million tons consist of fruit and 4 million tons of vegetables.
There are some groups of fruit and vegetables which are the most popular, as for example: citrus fruit, dates, almonds, bananes, grapes and broad range of vegetables.
Early fresh produce (fruit and vegetables) export is one of the most important branch of Morocco commerce. Fresh stuff is grown on the area of 30.000 hectares with a total production of 1.500.000 tons of fruit and vegetables. Each year Morocco exports 580.000 tons of fresh vegetables and fruit. There are 8.000 farmers and growers in Morocco.
