Spanish production of organic agriculture is seeing annual growth rates of 11.7%.
According to the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, organic activities are continuing to grow despite the economic situation in the country.
The area dedicated to organic farming is now 1,674,118 ht and the sector directly employs 29,925 people. Spain has 3038 BIO industries
with a turnover of 685 million euros in 2010.
The sale value of these products has reached 905 million euros, an expenditure of €19.40 per capita. The sector expects better results for 2012 with strong growth potential in Europe.
