15% increase in blueberry exports volume projected for the 2022/23 season

The blueberry season 2022/23 in Peru began in week 18 and already performs a good output. According to data from the Association of Blueberry Producers of Peru (Proarándanos), shipments of these first weeks already exceed 300 tons. Until the end of June, the union projects that exports will reach 700 tons as harvests progress in the fields of the central reagion and northern coast.
This season Peru has around 16.000 hectares planted, 70% of which is between the regions of La Libertad and Lambayeque, where berry yields have already exceeded 20.000 kilos per hectare. Meanwhile, Ica, Piura and Lima concentrate 20% of the production.

Meanwhile, this campaign the country will carry out the first shipments to Israel. Although it is a market with a small population, it has a good demand.
From the union they indicated that this year they will continue working with the National Agricultural Health Service (Senasa) on opening the Japanese market.
For the end of the 2022/23 season, the projection of a 15% increase in the volume exported compared to the previous season (276.000 tons) is maintained.
