Production of almonds and hazelnuts is expected to increase

The Federation of Agricultural Cooperatives of Catalonia (FCAC) plans an increase in  production of almonds and hazelnuts this year.

With rains and lack of frost, the federation estimates the production to 46,860 tons of almonds, that is + 23.9% over the previous season. In Catalonia, the increased production could reach 27.6% compared to 2010.

For hazelnut production, the increase will be lower but the federation expects an increase of 6% with 12,084 tons (11,400 tons last year).
