The cold will cause an early flowering of pineapples and the fruit will be smaller with lower prices.
The cold wave that hit Costa Rica will lead to early flowering of pineapples, predicted to be smaller this year.
The Ministry of Agriculture is trying to take stock of the damage. The banana and pineapple crop seem
to be most affected. As the fruits are smaller, there will be lower prices for producers.
The association of pineapple producers believes it is too early to take stock and it won't be until mid-February that the exact extent of the damage will be known.
