Road transport generates the largest traffic.
A remarkable result of the volume of goods transported in Iran confirming the country's vast potential as a transit route between Asia and Europe.
The Ministry of Roads and Urban Development has announced a 24% increase in transit volumes. For the first 5 months of the Iranian calendar starting on 21st of March, more than 4.18 million tons of goods (1.229 million tons of petroleum products and 2.789 million other products including food) went through 32 points access to borders, both maritime and road.
The Shahid Rajaei port in the south of the country accounted for 35% of the volumes, becoming the most active hub. Subsequently, Parvizkhan (20%), Bazargan (10.4%) and Bahonar (8%) were ranked first. According to the ministry, the largest volume of traffic is from road transport from Iraq to the Emirates, Emirates to Afghanistan and Emirates to Iraq.
