Kiwi production to expand in Italy

Italy, the leading producer of kiwifruit in the northern hemisphere, should see his production increase.

According to figures revealed at the European Summit of fruit in Cesena, the country's overall production should increase. Consorzio Servizi ortofrutticoli (CSO) estimates production at 461,500 tons of kiwifruit this season. Production is expected to increase from 12 to 16%. The percentages are different in different regions.

In the northern hemisphere, the production of kiwifruit is expected to increase 691, 000 tons. The average increase is 13%. An 8% increase is expected in France, 23% in Greece and 6% in Spain.
