Andalusia forecasts a harvest of almonds up 15% for the 2018-19 season

Andalucia is forecasting a growing harvest, at the national level the production of almonds will reach a record volume for the 2018-19 season.
The first estimate for the 2018-19 campaign, prepared by the agricultural organizations and the Frutos Secos working group of Andalucía, provides a volume 15% higher than the volume produced the previous season.
The Frutos Secos working group of Andalucía, with the participation of the agricultural organizations (ASAJA, COAG, UPA) and Aeofruse, the dry fruit producers' association, announced their first estimate for the 2018-19 season. Almond harvest is forecast at 11,500 tonnes, up 15% from the previous season.
By area of production, the province of Granada is again the main producer with a forecast of 3,540 tons of almonds; for the province of Almeria 3,090 tons, for Sevilla 2,300 tons, for Málaga 1,120 tons, for Córdoba 850 tons. In the rest of Andalusia 600 tons.
Andalucia's 11,500 tonnes of almonds will account for nearly 20% of the 60,000 tonnes planned nationally. The forecasts for Spain as a whole are rather positive, having increased by almost 13% compared to last season and by 32% compared to the average of the last 5 years
