The decrease in growing area will result in lower production and favourable prices.
The growing area for potatoes has dropped in Italy, as in almost every European country.
In Europe the reduced area of potatoes averaged -3.5%. France, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland all reduced their surfaces.
APEC (Centro per la di documentazione blah
) and the Osservatorio Nazionale della patata announced the same trend in Italy: Emilia-Romagna (-10%), Campania (-20%) and Abruzzo (-15%) .
Producers feel that this decrease in the area of production could lead to favourable prices.
