Germany and France were the main importers in 2020 of mandarins, clementines and satsumas (Photo: africantrademarket.com).
According to a recent IndexBox report on the European market, in 2020 the volume of mandarins, clementines and satsumas imported into the EU totaled 1.8 million tonnes, which is roughly stable compared to 2019. In value, the Imports of mandarins and clementines increased by + 19.7%, reaching an estimated amount of USD 2.2 billion in 2020.
By volume, Germany with 388,000 tonnes and France with 359,000 tonnes were the main importing countries in 2020, together accounting for 44% of total EU imports. The Netherlands follow with 194,000 tonnes, Poland with 156,000 tonnes and Italy with 99,000 tonnes. Then come Romania with 67,000 tonnes, Belgium with 59,000 tonnes, Sweden with 53,000 tonnes.
In value terms, Germany with 0.527 million USD, France with 0.503 million USD and the Netherlands with 0.239 million USD together accounted for 59% of total imports. A group of 10 countries (Poland, Italy, Belgium, Sweden, Austria, Finland, Czech Republic, Romania, Portugal, Bulgaria) together accounted for 31% of total imports.
