Holland potato production down in 2005

The production of Dutch potatoes is expected to be down by about 9 percent this year to 6.8 million tonnes. Unfavourable weather conditions during the planting time led to a reduced growing season. About 3.8 million tonnes of the total is for consumption potatoes, of which over half goes to the processing industry.
