Switzerland
Monday 05 March 2007
The volume of sale of bio-apples in January made a record - 361 tons of apples have been sold - the biggest amount sold during one month.
To cool down this optimistic report the Fruit Branch Commission (FKO) issued the communicate from yearly conference as a warning - saying that in last years big area has been planted with apple trees so there will be much bigger offer of apples on the market in coming years. There is a recommendation not to increase the planting area.
The Commission recommends also not to increase the area for planting pears though the good market situation. The reason for this is that the quality of produced pears is very good so due to assortments of fruit the market situation will be further improved.
