The main varieties are the Red Globe, Flame seedless, Thompson seedless and Crimson seedless.
The first shipment of 18,240 kilos of Peruvian grapes completed the phytosanitary certification of the National Agrarian Health Service of Peru (Senasa) for commercialization in Argentina.
Worth to mention that on April 23, 2021, Argentina established the phytosanitary requirements for importing grapes from Peru.
The cargo consisted of the Red Globe variety grapes which were produced and processed in Piura by the company Interfruit Peru SAC.
As a quarantine control measure against fruit flies, Senasa supervised the start of the cold treatment to which the fruit was subjected, verifying that the temperature reaches <1.1 degrees centigrade, within the agreed work protocols.
Grape is the most exported Peruvian fruit, with some 400,000 tons shipped during the 2020/21 season. The beginning of this commercial relationship between Peru and Argentina will mainly benefit producers from Piura, Ica, Lambayeque and Arequipa.
In 2019, Peru became the third largest grape exporter in the world, with 19,500 certified hectares of this fruit destined for export, according to the Foreign Trade Center (CCEX).
The main varieties are the Red Globe, Flame seedless, Thompson seedless and Crimson seedless.
