Natural phenomenon (growth spurt / abundant production and rest period / decrease in production) is more precocious this year.
Decrease in pineapple production caused by a natural phenomenon.
In Costa Rica, from May to the end of July, there is a spurt of uncontrollable growth of fruit crops. Pineapple production doubles but this phase is followed by a dramatic drop in production for the months of August and September.
This year, the phenomen of growth spurt was very short, only 4 to 5 weeks and precocious. The decline in production started from week 23 (June 3) and is likely to continue until the week 29 (15 July).
