Frost to cause 30% loss of artichoke harvest

Frost damage will lead to a loss of 30% of artichokes in the region.
Producers of artichokes have taken a hit in the province of Navarra, which will lose 30% of their crop due to frost.
Frost hit the region of Ribera and will cause a significant reduction in the harvest of artichokes, especially IGP Alcachofa de Tudela (
Tudela artichokes). Production is expected to fall by 30% (1.8 million kilos) compared to the harvest of last year which was about 6 million kilos.
The area of IGP covers 33 municipalities in Ribera and includes 500 hectares.
