Taiwan cuts cabbage prices after Typhoon Danas disrupts farms

Despite the typhoon, Taiwan has sufficient cabbage thanks to leftover winter harvests and stable international imports.
To control cabbage prices after Typhoon Danas damaged farms in central and southern Taiwan, the Ministry of Agriculture partnered with major retailers to launch low-price cabbage sections nationwide. Each head is priced at no more than NT$90 (about US$3.06) and available at 1,581 supermarket and hypermarket branches, including PX Mart, RT-Mart, Carrefour, and A.mart.
Farm damage was mostly limited to the south, while crops from the north — like highland cabbage, leafy greens, and mushrooms — remain largely unaffected. The Agriculture and Food Agency is coordinating with farmer groups to manage cold-storage stock and maintain steady supply across the market.
Despite the typhoon, Taiwan has sufficient cabbage thanks to leftover winter harvests and stable international imports. Weather in growing regions has now improved, and farmers in affected areas are preparing to replant. Supplies of leafy greens and gourds are expected to start recovering by early next month.
