Bolivian producers have forecast the recovery of pineapple exports to Chile and Argentina.
Bolivian pineapple producers in the Cochabamba region expect to double their export earnings as shipments to Chile and Argentina resume.
According to FONADIN (Fondo Nacional de Desarrollo Integral), the Cochabamba region has 4,200 hectares of pineapple, of which 2,000 are for the needs of the industry, 1,500 for the domestic market and only 700 for export. The export generated 2 million USD in 2017 and this year 4 million USD are expected.
This doubling of revenues will be achieved through the resumption of exports to Chile and Argentina. Recovery possible thanks to the implementation of better agricultural techniques and improved varieties, to meet phytosanitary requirements.
