Products with the regional certification logo looks to triple its exports this season.
The 2012/13 season looks good for FreshAtacama which plans to treble its exports.
FreshAtacama exported a total of 297,654 cases in 2011/12. For this season, which began on November 16 with the first harvest, the estimate is for exports of one million boxes.
FreshAtacama is a regional certification logo for grapes produced in the region. The FreshAtacama brand ensures
consistent product quality throughout the season, and ensures fruit production that is environmentally friendly.
These grapes are will top sales in the United States (58% market share), China (7.4%) and Mexico (6.1%). The area planted represents 8000 hectares in the Atacama region, which is 15% of the national total.
