New situation on green market in Poland
Poland
Tuesday 23 January 2007
The prices are going up in this week in Poland. The demand for rooted vegetable is skying up.
The prices of onions went up to 1 zloty per kilogram (0,26 euros), also prices of carrots and parsley went up.
Reason: decreasing sale offer of those vegetables.
But the real cause is unnormal warm winter this year making preservation very difficult and in effect quick deteriorating of goods. Producers offering high quality onions don't have any problem with sale.
Unfortunately there are not many on polish market. So the manufacturers started import from Holland,Germany and Ukraine.
Here some actual prices:
Vegetable in zloty per kilo-
1/ chive - 0,50 - 0,78 (about 0,16 euros)
2/ radish - 1,00 - 1,75 (about 0,39 euros)
3/ parsley-top - 0,40 - 0,78 (about 0,16 euros)
4/ lettuce - 2,00 -2,57 (about 0,52 euros)
The prices of early vegetable are slightly going down - vegetable like chive,radish,parsley-top are offered on market in growing volume because of high temperatures. The lettuce is exported to Italy in big volume what causes its price goes up on polish market.
Here the prices demanded by garden-cooperatives for different kind of cabbage and some vegetables- per kg :
1/ white-cabbage - 0,20 - 0,40 (about 0,10 euros)
2/ red-cabbage - 0,50 - 0,70 (about 0,15 euros)
3/ italian-cabbage - 0,60 - 1,00 (about 0,26 euros)
4/ chinese-cabbage - 0,75 - 1,80 (about 0,46 euros)
vegetables : 1/ carrot - 0,48 - 1,00 (about 0,26 euros), parsley - 1,40 - 2,50 (about 0,65 euros), onions -0,67 - 1,20 (about 0,31 euros).
Processing plants are paying wholesale price for apples - 0,45 - 0,52 (about 0,13 euros) per kilo, for apples to be peeled 0,65 zl/kg (0,17 euros).
The prices of almost all kinds of cabbage is powered by rising scale of demand by countries of so called "old EU" and our east neighboroughs. Only white cabbage is in big surplus on the market and there is no demand for this vegetable.
