The growth of the Panama Canal currently 85% complete

The Panama Canal Authority has indicated that overall expansion is currently 85% complete. The first door on the 8 planned for new locks on the Pacific side has been installed. Earlier in December, doors installation for new Atlantic side locks, began with 2 doors on the 8 planned.

 

 

 

The total realization of the project, initially planned for 2014 is now pushed back to early 2016. In addition, about funding, the project responsible builders group demands additional € 2.06 billion due to additional costs and delays. The amount originally planned was $ 4.53 billion.
