VU
Researchers from INTA San Pedro - Buenos Aires - have registered the third onion cultivar in the National Registry of Cultivars of the National Seed Institute. The new variety, named Alcira INTA, stands out for its high yield and less spicy flavor. Paula and Victoria INTA, are the other two varieties developed by this researcher.
This new variety offers a high yield and less spicy flavor compared to other Argentine onions. Alcira INTA produces elongated bulbs of a yellow-brown color and is well adapted to the Pampean region. Its growth cycle is intermediate, with 210 days from sowing to harvest, which takes place at the end of November.
The seeds are now available for producers to evaluate its productive quality.
