China worries of its agricultural pollution

At the beginning of the year of the Tiger, China becomes aware of the agricultural pollution and wants to promote the organic farming.
At the beginning of the new year when the Tiger is going to succeed in the Ox, the Chinese authorities published for the first time a study concerning the sources of pollution in the country.
Because of its fast economic development, China is confronted of a degradation of the environment and in particular those of the air and the water.
According to this study, near half (the 43,7 %) of the quantity of DCO (chemical request in oxygen which is an indicator of water pollution) results from the agriculture.
Zhang Lijun, Vice Minister of the environmental protection indicated that to take measures against the pollution resulting from agricultural sources is essential to resolve the problem of the water pollution into China.
"We are going to resolve this problem according to the requirements of the modern agriculture and by pursuing the sustainable development" he indicated.
"China has to strengthen its fight against the massive use of fertilizer and pesticides and promote the organic farming ".
