Stemilt, company of American producers, has signed an agreement with the company Lantao in Shanghai.

Lantao, already importer of Stemilt cherries, becomes the first buyer in China of pears Stemlit, within the framework of new protocol between the United States and China. Stemilt will export to China pears of Starkrimson and Anjous varieties.

Starkrimson pears, with its bright red color and sweet flavor, is a good multipurpose pear seems well suited to the Chinese market, according to Mike Taylor, vice president of sales and marketing for Stemilt. Some time will be needed to explain the differences between a typical Asian pear and a "western". But Stemlit is confident in the work of his Chinese partner to win consumers and increase sales.

Lantao operates sites of marketing and distribution in three major markets (Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou) but also in secondary cities with populations of more than 10 million people, a growing economy and a thriving middle class (Shenyang, Zhengzhou and Harbin).
