In 2012, California produced more than half of U.S. vegetables

Nearly half of U.S. fresh vegetables are produced in California: USDA, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, announced in one of its reports that almost half of the vegetables grown in the United States come from the state of California.

 

The vegetables sector in California, "weighs" more than 6 billion dollars, down 5% from the previous year. California also represents more than two-thirds of U.S. processed vegetables.

 

California is a leader in the production of almonds, artichokes, dates, figs, grapes, kiwi, olives, plums, pomegranates, peaches, pistachios, walnuts.
