Officials from the local agriculture department provide support and training to meet the growing interest in garlic farming.
In Bangladesh’s Rangpur district, more farmers are choosing garlic over traditional crops as prices and profits rise. Local reports show garlic has now been planted on 1,300 hectares, exceeding the planned area.
Farmers cite higher earnings and strong market demand as the main reasons for the shift. Some report profits over $900–1,400 from small plots, prompting others to cut back on crops like rice and wheat.
