Asda has reverted to imperial weight measurements for fruit and vegetables.
For the first time in 16 years, Asda has reverted to imperial weight measurements for fruit and vegetables.
Pounds and ounces will be displayed next to metric, which is mandatory under the laws of the European Union. Asda will start the dual display on strawberries and it could be extended to all fruits and vegetables.
After more than 10 years of implementing the metric system, the British retailer said that 7 out of 10 customers prefer the old system. The majority of consumers admit to wasting time converting metric to pounds and ounces.
