Senegal wants to increase its exports of mangoes

The exportation of mangoes still represents a very marginal volume.
For 2012, Senegal recorded a growth of its exports of mango with about 8500 tons, against 7,648 tons in 2011. But this volume remains marginal with an estimated 118,950 tons total production.
The ASEPEX (Agency of Senegal of Promoting Exports ) held a meeting at the ITA (Institute of Food Technology) with industry professionals. Promoting better agricultural practices, fighting against harvest losses, preventing the shortcomings of fruit preservation, finding business opportunities.
Improving the production will increase exports, higher exports will be a factor of growth for all countries. With 1610 tons, Europe is the main destination of mangoes from Senegal. According to ASEPEX European purchases of mangoes will continue to increase by about 2.5% per year.
