A German newspaper reported that food prices are starting to rise in Siberia and believes that this will spread to the whole country in a few weeks.
In Siberia, a region where there is little local production due to bad weather conditions, the prohibition of imports begins to have an effect on prices.
In the Primorsky region, border area with China, some prices have skyrocketed. Meat displays now prices higher by +26%, +40% fish, chicken legs + 60%. Meat, fish, fruits and vegetables, dairy products from the EU, the United States, Norway, Canada and Australia are no longer imported into Russia.
Financial experts now believe that these measures will lead to inflation in food products by about +8% by the end of 2015 well above the target set by the Central Bank of Russia +4, 5% next year.
