The wind has scattered fruits on a strip of five kilometers along the coast.
This action reflects the state of mind of producers in the region, where Mandarin is the second most produced fruit after olive with about 780,000 trees planted in the Edremit region and its surroundings.
Despite a good quality production , buyers were not happy with it. The fruits that remaining on the tree or fall were harmful to the tree, producers were forced to pick the fruits and throw them into the sea to attract the attention of authorities and consumers.
