2030 forecast: Global production and exports will further increase

According to the Agricultural Outlook 2021-2030 report, world pineapple production is expected to grow by 2% per year and exports by 1.4% per year by 2030. Asia is expected to remain the largest producing region and United states the largest importing country.
Production
Global pineapple production is expected to grow by 2% per year, reaching 37 million tonnes in 2030, mainly due to increased harvested area.
Asia should remain the leading producing region and represent 40% of world production. Pineapple production is important in the Philippines, Thailand, India, Indonesia and China. Pineapple cultivation in Asia will continue to meet mainly domestic demand. Only the Philippines, the second largest exporter after Costa Rica, is expected to export around 20% of its production.
Pineapple production in Latin America and the Caribbean, the second-largest producing region, is expected to represent 38% of world production in 2030.
Exports
Global pineapple exports are expected to grow by 1.4% per year, reaching 3.5 million tonnes in 2030, mainly due to import demand from the United States.
With forecast imports of 1.3 million tonnes in 2030, equivalent to a world share of 37%, the United States is expected to remain the largest importer of pineapples. The European Union should represent 22% of world imports.
The Agricultural Outlook 2021-2030 report was produced through collaboration between the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
