Cherry, grape, apple and blueberry as protagonists of the Chilean fruit export season

In the period from January to November 2023, China stands out as the main destination, concentrating 90.8% of the total value of Chilean cherry exports.

From January to November 2023, Chile has exported 2,947,000 tons of fruit, with a value of $ 6,889 million. Although there has been a 5.4% decrease in volume, there has been a 10.8% increase in value, according to the most recent report from the Chilean Ministry of Agriculture's Office of Agricultural Studies and Policies (Odepa).
Of the total value, 73% corresponds to fresh fruit, with sales of 2,306,000 tons, equivalent to $ 5,041 million for the period analyzed. Despite a decrease of 6.6% in volume, there has been an increase of 12.3% in value compared to the same period of the previous year.
Cherry leads exports in this group, with 307 thousand tons and $ 1,862 million, representing 57.8% of the total value of fresh fruit exports in this period. This figure shows an increase of 5.3% in volume and 17.2% in value compared to 2022. China stands out as the main destination, concentrating 90.8% of the total value of Chilean cherry exports.
In second place is table grapes, with 495,639 tons equivalent to $ 903.2 million, representing 20.4% of the total value of fresh fruit exports. There was a decrease of 18% in volume and 5% in value, with the United States (44.6%) and China (14.4%) being the main buyers.
Apples are in third place, with shipments of 467,863 tons and $ 500 million, representing 11% of the total value of fresh fruit exports. There was a decrease of 20.2% in volume and 1% in value. The United States is the main destination, accounting for 33.2% of the total value of apple shipments, followed by Colombia (13%) and Brazil (9.36%).
In fourth place is the blueberry, with shipments of 74,807 tons and $343 million, equivalent to 7% of the total value of fresh fruit exports. A decrease of 19% in volume and 7.0% in value was observed compared to the same period of the previous year. The main destinations were the United States (45.1%) and the Netherlands (17.0%).
