Custom duties for imported vegetables to be prolonged

According to official information provided by the Ministry of agriculture of Belarus, the government plans to prolong period of validity of seasonal custom duties for imported beet, onion, cabbage and carrot till the end of April of the current year.
At that custom rates will be set at the level of 30 % from the custom value. The main goal of this act is to protect interests of Belarusian producers.
Also Minister of agriculture reported that construction of new facilities for storing vegetables could provide availability of domestic vegetable produce for the spring months.
According to official statistics data, as of February 25th of the current year, stocks of domestic vegetables in Belarus totaled 54.300 tonnes, including 20.400 tonnes of onions, 16.000 tonnes of cabbages, 9.600 tonnes of carrots and 8.2 tonnes of beets.
