Early harvest this year for California avocados who will be well present for St. Patrick's Day celebrations.

In California the rains have drastically reduced the drought throughout the state where the avocado crops began a little ahead this year. The production of avocados is estimated at 119 million pounds (53 million kilos).

This early harvest comes in time for one of the peaks of avocado consumption, the St. Patrick's Day celebrations (March 17).

For this green celebration, CAC (California Avocado Commission) intends to encourage purchases of Californian avocados. Through a strong presence on social media (Facebook, Twitter), information and entertainment for the 300,000 fans.

Demand for avocados remains solid, and while the 2017 production will be lower than last year's production, professionals are optimistic for the future. Rainfall contributed to improved tree health for all of this year and even 2018, no matter how wet the winter of 2017-18 will be.
