March 20: a day without meat
FJ
On March 20 was chosen as the International Day without meat.
This day - Meat Out Day - has been held each year since 1985. American-born, the day was launched by FARM association that fights for the respect of animals, the preservation of the planet and the improvement of human health.
The preservation of the planet becomes a major concern. A diet with less meat could help solve many environmental problems. The breedings are responsible for 18% of total emissions of greenhouse gases; producing 1 kg of beef requires 15,500 liters of water (produce the same amount of potatoes, 900 liters) and 323 square meters of land (potatoes, 6 sqm).
