Continued growth for Unicoque, N ° 1 French hazelnut
FJ | Unicoque
Unicoque cooperative deals 98% of French production of hazelnut.
Created in 1979, the Unicoque cooperative groups now 400 producers, its turnover exceeds € 22 million, and its production 10,000 tonnes. The cooperative is distinguished in the global market with hazelnuts of large size, unlike its main competitors (Turkey, Spain, Italy). These large fruits are highly prized by Europeans (Belgium, Germany, France, in particular) and by industrial confectionery.
Its own brand, KOKI, is evidence of an ongoing search for the optimal quality throughout the chain, from the orchards, to packaging and shipping. KOKI is exported to Europe, Maghreb and China where demand is immense.
Unicoque plans to increase its production to 30,000 tons of hazelnuts by 2030. This objective will require large investments of new storage and packaging capacities. As well as a boost in research and development to enable two harvests per year.
