Losses amounted to millions of dollars

Huge losses for Chilean agriculture. After a first estimattion of around U.S.$ 600 million loss, FEDEFRUTA (Federación de Productores de Fruta de Chile) now estimates that the damages will exceed U.S. $ 1 000 million.

Fedefruta requests the support of government and banks to help farmers and workers in the sector. The situation could destroy 50,000 jobs across the industry according to the Minister of Agriculture who has set up a working group.
