Decrease expected in apple production

One of the major  producing area of apple in China are forecast to decline in crop output.

 
The apple production in Shandong should reach 5.6 million, instead of the 8 million tons produced last year, down 30%.

 
This decline in production was due to special weather. The winter cold has been a long, flowering was delayed and disrupted by lots of rain.
All these conditions will result in lower volumes.

 
Fruit size should be smaller than normal. To increase fruit size, some producers will try to let apples on trees until mid-October, with a risk of frost and other damage in quality and volume of apples for export.
