Difficult season for Spanish berries
Spain
Friday 09 May 2003
The berry production in the region of Huelva, South-West of Spain, has suffered from bad weather conditions, in particular torrential rains at the end of April - beginning of May. As a consequence, quality problems have led to a drop in prices on wholesale markets. Moreover, Spain has only three weeks left before production from France, the UK, the Netherlands and Belgium enter in competition with it.
