China has become the second largest strawberries exporter to the European Union (EU), according to a report in The Beijing News.
Currently, strawberries exported from China account for 14 percent of the EU's total imports, up from five percent from five years ago, the paper said.
In 2003, the EU's imported strawberries hit a new high of 256,268 tons and non-EU countries were the largest supplier of frozen strawberries to the EU with an export of 170,050 tons in 2003.
The improvement of China's frozen strawberries delivery enabled China become the second largest strawberries supplier to the EU, next to Poland, the paper said.
