Ceradini Group moves into strawberries
MD
Ceradini Verona, well known in the kiwi business has entered the strawberry market.
In Velo Veronese, Lessinia at 1,150 metres, Ceradini, has found the ideal location for strawberry production in the mountains. The decision was taken in summer 2011, and in just six months - in record time! – the plant was inaugurated on June 17, with some 350 people in attendance.
The site of strawberry production is equipped with the latest technology, including systems capture rainwater, anti-freeze to extend the growing season and maintain a moist microclimate inside the greenhouse and management and monitoring equipment.
The cultivated varieties are: Irma, Portola and San Andreas, chosen for their strong characteristics. The site also has a greenhouse dedicated to R & D (research and development) to test the characteristics of new varieties. And finally, the strategic location has beneficial insects and natural systems of prevention to help avoid chemical treatments that are commonly used for strawberries.
The chosen brand is "Fragola", with which Ceradini Group wishes to enter the market under the slogan ‘fruit as it once was’, that is with the fragrance and flavour that's hard to find in trade. Even the packaging is innovative, using photo-quality graphics.
