VOG: Supply and demand are balanced, prices are stable and quality is excellent.
VOG, Producers Association of South Tyrol, is the largest organization of the apple industry in Italy.
VOG has 18 cooperatives, 5,600 family businesses that operate over 10,800 hectares of orchards.
Present at Interpoma, Gerhard Dichgans, director of the association analyzed the 2010-2011 season: "The campaign is going well and the market is much healthier than it was twelve months ago: supply and demand are more balanced, thanks to declining imports from competing countries, prices are stable, while exports are very satisfactory. The quality of our apples are excellent, despite the fact that large proportions are medium to small size, due to high temperatures and scarcity of water in June and July. "
