Sun World files for Chapter 11

Sun World International, one of the leaders in speciality fresh produce, announced it has filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection. Nevertheless, it will obtain a seasonal financing package that provides for working capital through the 2003-04 growing seasons. "The filing was necessary to protect our employees, customers, growers and licensees (...)", stated Tim Shaheen, Sun World's chief executive officer. The company is particularly known for its Superior Seedless Grape.
