IBM technology will help Indian farmers

In India the Ministry of Agriculture has just signed a declaration of intent with IBM India that will provide farmers with weather forecasts and various information to get bigger crops and improve profitability.

The project will be deployed in 3 districts: Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), Rajkot (Gujarat) and Nanded (Maharashtra). Thanks to decades of research and expertise, IBM launched the Watson Decision Platform in 2016 for weather forecasts. Since then, it includes a suite of tools and solutions to meet the growing needs of agriculture.

The Watson Decision Platform combines the power of artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and predictive analytics that allow users to easily view weather data and alerts. But also soil moisture measurements in real time, indications of diseases and pests, yield forecasts. All to help farmers make the right decisions to boost productivity.
