Several peaks of shipments are planned in December, January and March.
Blueberries, fresh cherries, grapes and stone fruits are already exported to the United States.
Karen Brux, Executive Director of Chilean Fresh Fruits Association for North America, believes it is important to promote the benefits of vitamin C in Chilean fresh fruits. Especially in this current period when, in addition to the Covid-19, the flu season is arriving in the northern hemisphere
The period from November to January is a good time to promote cherries, with a peak in shipments to the United States expected in weeks 51 and 52. In December there will be small volumes of grapes and blueberries. Chilean blueberries will be available from November through March, with a peak shipping to the United States in weeks 2 and 3.
February is the main promotional month for peaches, nectarines and blueberries. On the eve of Valentine's Day, promotions on grapes and blueberries are planned. Further down the calendar, Easter will be celebrated the 1st week of April, and will also have a big impact on sales.
The export of grapes from Chile by sea began in November and the total volume exported to the United States is expected to be the same as in 2019.
A peak in grape shipments to the United States is expected in weeks 12 and 13.
Shipments of nectarines and peaches to the United States will peak in weeks 4 and 5, and plums in weeks 7 and 8, according to Ms Brux. Nectarines and peaches will have the same volumes as last season and there will be growth of plums (back to normal volumes), which were reduced last season.
