Late frosts have destroyed 90% of the production of almonds
An area of approximately 20,000 hectares is affected by late frosts.
The agrarian union UAGA-COAG announced that an area of 20,000 hectares, including the regions of Aragon, Matarraña, Bajo Aragon, Andorra-Sierra de Arcos and Bajo Martín, is affected. Especially early varieties as "Largueta" and "Marcona".
In these affected areas, several years of drought had caused the death of 15% of the trees, and crops resulted in a decrease. Harvests totaled 34,775 tonnes in 2012 and 38,277 tonnes in 2011.
