Net increase in Turkish fruits and vegetables exports in August.

According to official statistics published by the Mediterranean Exporters Union, total exports of fruits and vegetables reached nearly 150 000 tonnes in comparaison to just over 103,000 tonnes in August 2015. 54% are fruits, 41% vegetables and 5% citrus.
Regarding vegetables, tomatoes are representing 50 per cent of exports, which topped the list with an increase of 135 per cent in quantity and 241 percent in value compared to August 2015. They are followed by peppers, carrots and turnips. In fourth position, potatoes which is surprising because it goes from 139 tonnes to over 14 000 tonnes and excellent prices, representing 23 percent of the vegetables amount exported. Saudi Arabia is the biggest importer with 39 percent of total imports. Russia is not on the list of top 20 importers.
As for fruits, 50 percent of the total export of fruits consists of grapes, despite lower figures compared to August 2015. The fig holds second place, tripling its export from August 2015 and catching up on its poor performance last month. Again, Saudi Arabia holds the first place with 15 percent of total exports in value as well as quantity, first importing country is Iraq. Russia is in 3rd place with a fall of 97 per cent of exports in comparison with 2015.
Aside from easy peelers, citrus fruits have also increased their exports, especially grapefruit, but the big share remains lemon exports (77 percent of total exports of citrus).
