Plums recorded a 40% increase in export value
Chilean fresh fruit exports reached record values in the first half of 2024, according to ProChile and the National Customs Service. Chilean fruits are recognised worldwide for their quality and flavour, driving the agricultural sector to exceed $7 billion in exports, a 9% increase over 2023.
Cherries had a historic season, with exports exceeding $2.2 billion between November 2023 and February 2024, with China being the main destination. In the first half of the year, cherry exports reached more than $1.961 billion, an increase of 26% compared to the previous year.
Blueberries also stood out, with an export value of $403 million, an increase of 21.4% over 2023. The United States, Germany and the United Kingdom were the main destinations, with significant increases in their imports.
Plums recorded a 40% increase in export value, reaching $308 million. Peaches and nectarines also increased by 25%, with exports of $164 million to China, the United States and Mexico.
Kiwifruit and grapes showed notable increases, with $139 million and $931 million respectively, representing increases of 13% and 17% compared to the previous year.
