In 2023, exports of passion fruit from Peru reached a value of US$759,000, marking a 5% increase compared to US$738,000 the previous year, notes a Peruvian media outlet.
This fruit is offered on the international market in various forms, including soft drinks and as fresh fruit. The main destinations include Chile, Guatemala, United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Switzerland, France and Germany. Recently, in 2023, Argentina also began importing Peruvian passion fruit, opening up new market opportunities.
Peruvian passion fruit is grown in several regions of Peru, including Pasco, Junín, Lima, Cajamarca, La Libertad, Áncash, Huánuco, Ayacucho and Cusco, among others.
Although the main market for passion fruit is the local market, there is growing interest in exporting, especially in by-products such as pulp for juices.
