OTC Organics offers new types of fully recyclable packaging.

In 2019, OTC Organics was focused on developing sustainable packaging. This year the packaging line for grapes has been complimented with 2 new sustainable alternatives.
Sales & Marketing Manager of OTC Organics, Bart van der Vliet says that the reduction of plastic packaging for fresh produce will remain a much-discussed topic.
A lot of fruits and vegetables can be sold without packaging. However, for some products this is more difficult, as for the organic grapes.
This year, at OTC Organics they have developed a new fully recyclable packaging in collaboration with their grape suppliers, JASA Packaging Solutions and customers.
They have a version of the package in which a cardboard tray with the FSC quality mark is combined with a 100% r-PET lid.
R-PET stands for recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate, which is known from environmentally friendly soft drink bottles.
The use of r-PET material has many important advantages: it is absolutely recyclable, without using additional raw materials.
The other version that they offer is the same cardboard tray which has a FSC quality mark and which is combined with an illustrated cardboard sleeve.
The consumer can see clearly what is inside of this packaging, through the many openings in the cardboard, in spite of the lack of transparent plastic.
As long as this packaging consists of FSC certified paper, it can be recycled after use.
At OTC Organics you can find seeded or seedless, white, black or red grapes.
During the delivery period, they receive fresh organic grapes supplies every week from Orex Export, Lushof Fruit and Carpe Diem.
The season starts in December with white seedless grapes (Prime, Early sweet, Thompson, Sugraone, Regal, Sundance, Sweet Globe, Arra fifteen).
Then in January they also receive seedless red grapes (Flame, Evans Delight, Sweet Celebration, Desert Dawn, Crimson, Jack’s Salute, Allison) and black seedless grapes (Midnight, Arra 14, Autumn Roya and Melody) followed by seeded grapes (Red globe and Dan Ben Hanna).
