Production of stone fruits increases

There was a marked increase in production in 2012 of Turkish cherries (+25%) and peaches and nectarines (+6%).
Turkish production in 2012 of stone fruit is satisfactory according to figures released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
After a devastating year in 2011 for crops the weather conditions were favorable this year for flowering and harvest. Compared to 2011, production has increased by 25%
for cherries and 6% for peaches and nectarines.
This year, cherry production reached 500,000 MT and 57,000 MT exports. The production of peaches and nectarines were 550,000 MT and 45,000 MT exports.
